About Justin McShane

Attorney Justin McShane (Chairman/CEO) is an attorney who specializes in using forensic science in defending the citizen accused among us who has been alleged by the Government to be in violation of the law. He is nationally known and well-regarded for being an skilled and fierce litigator, but is also well known for his strong understanding and in-depth knowledge in all forms of forensic science.

His practice is exclusively limited to DUI and criminal law. He does not practice anything else. Once a year, he moderates and instructs at a Continuing Legal Education seminar entitled "Traffic Law-DUI" where Judges of Courts of Common Pleas, District Justices, prosecutors and other lawyers attend or otherwise instructs in the area of DUI and DUI related matters. He also lectures at seminars where other attorneys from as far away as Maine come to get the very latest in training. He is a featured guest lecturer at national/state seminars.

About Tim Barrouk

Attorney Tim Barrouk (Senior Litigation Associate) has rapidly developed a reputation as an attorney who will "roll up his sleeves" and aggressively fight for his clients' rights to the fullest extent allowed by law. He is regarded as natural born litigator. One of the very best in the state when it comes to DUI and traffic offenses. He was elected to membership in the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD). He holds a certificate as a "Breath Alcohol Technician" certified by the US Department of Transportation. He is a certified Instructor in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs). He holds a certificate in NHTSA/IACP approved courses such as Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (Instructor and Practioner) and Drugs that Impair Driving and Drug Recognition Expert. He holds instructor rating in SFSTs, is certified Breath Alcohol Technicians, received training in Drugs that Impair Driving and has received Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) certification. He has also attended advanced training in forensic blood and urine analysis. Attorney Barrouk has attended the National College for DUI Defense seminars and their Summer Session taught at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. About Shawn Dorward

Attorney Shawn Dorward (Litigation Associate) started his legal career here with us as a Law Clerk with the firm. For nearly two (2) years he worked on a daily and hourly basis with Attorney McShane. While a law clerk at The McShane Firm, LLC he has completely prepared (with Attorney McShane's complete supervision) several trials that Attorney McShane tried which resulted in not guilties and a hung verdict. He has completed complicated motions and research as well as filing briefs with the Superior and Supreme Courts. He is proficient with PowerPoint and has helped the attorneys use this technology in the Courtroom as a presentation of Opening Statements and Closing Arguments to the benefit of clients.

He, like all of the attorneys at firm, is a certified Breath Alcohol Technician as recognized by the United States Department of Transportation. He holds a certificate as an Instructor in NHTSA/IACP approved courses such as Standard Field Sobriety Testing and Drugs that Impair Driving. He has received training in as a Drug Recognition Expert. He has received advanced training in fornesic Blood and Urine analysis. He is particularly well-versed in challenging the collection and analysis of blood used for forensic purposes such as Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) testing, and solid drug doses. He has received specialized training in aggressively defending DUI cases.

He has handled hundreds of cases and is prepared to do all ethical things necessary to help maximize the chances of his clients obtaining an acceptable result.

He prides himself on returning all phone calls very promptly. He believes and practices client autonomy (allowing clients to make their own educated and informed decisions) because he understands that in the final analysis this is about a person and his/her future and his/her life and not about the attorney.

About David Hoover

Attorney David M. Hoover comes to The McShane Firm after serving eighteen (18) months as the Judicial Law Clerk to The Honorable John A. Boccabella of the Berks County Court of Common Pleas. Judge Boccabella handles each and every DUI and DUI related case in Berks County. During his time working for the Judge, Attorney Hoover was tasked with conducting extensive research on Pennsylvania's DUI laws and also drafted numerous judicial opinions. He also interned with The Honorable Kevin A. Hess of the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas.

Attorney Hoover, like all of the attorneys has highly specialized training in DUI defense. He has attended and successfully completed the 2009 Intoxilyzer 8000 Operator's Course where he passed the proficiency-based testing program to become a Breath Alcohol Technician recognized by the US Department of Transportation. He, like all of the attorneys at the Firm, has obtained both Practitioner and Instructor rating in the administration of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He, like all of the attorneys at the Firm, has also attended and passed the proficiency based examinations at the once-in-every-ten-years "Forensic Blood and Urine Testing" seminar where experts like A. Wayne Jones, Alfred Staubus, Ron Moore, and Dr. Wanda Marlowe lecture on issues surrounding blood and urine analysis. He has also attended and received recognition in the area of Drug Impaired Driving called "Drug Recognition Expert". He has also attended the National College for DUI Defense summer session at Harvard Law School.

While he handles all types of criminal cases from preliminary hearing to trial and beyond the bulk of his cases have involved drug-related offenses and DUI with a particular focus on search and seizure issues.

He has been a lifelong resident of Central Pennsylvania and can think of no better place to practice law. About Alicia Genther

Alicia Genther graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Administration of Justice (Forensics), as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies. While at the University of Pittsburgh, she was a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization and Golden Key National Honors Society. Ms. Genther is a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School.

Ms. Genther is magna cum laude graduate of the Duquesne University School of Law. While in Law School, Ms. Genther served as a contributing writer as well as a Research Editor on Duquesne Law Review (the highest academic honor in law school). Additionally, while at Duquesne, she was an active member of the Women's Law Association.

Ms. Genther has extensive legal experience. She began to work for the The McShane Firm LLC, as a law clerk while in college and continued to work for the firm during various breaks from college and law school. During the summer of 2008, Ms. Genther clerked for Senior Judge Jim Flaherty of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, where she gained invaluable experience and assisted the Court by drafting opinions, evaluating appeals and conducting research of various legal issues on a daily basis. During her third year of law school, Ms. Genther worked as a law clerk for a general practice law firm in Pittsburgh, where she performed much work for the firms' criminal law associates and partners.

Ms. Genther was recently awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards® program which recognizes excellence achievement by law students in their studies. The award is given to the student with the highest grade in the class as determined by the instructor. The subject for which she achieved this honor was Criminal Process and Procedure.

Shortly, Ms. Genther will be sitting for the Pennsylvania Bar Examination in July 2009. Upon being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar, she will join The McShane Firm, LLC as an associate. Prior becoming a mmeber of the bar, she will have completed scheduled training and become a Breath Alcohol Technician recognized by the US Department of Transportation. She will gain certification as both Practitioner and Instructor in the administration of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. She will also attended and received recognition in the area of Drug Impaired Driving called "Drug Recognition Expert". She will become a member of the National College for DUI Defense.
